PhD Vacancy in European Criminal Law - University of Ghent

The FWO (Fund for Scientific Research – Flanders) funds a study into the interpretation methods used by the European Court of Justice to help shape European criminal law. In concrete terms, the research will concern the interpretation of the concept of 'criminal matters', which determines the scope of application of instruments such as the European Arrest Warrant, the European Investigation Order, but also the directive on the presumption of innocence and the instruments on the cross-border execution of criminal sanctions. For the research, a collaboration will be set up with colleagues from other EU countries.

Knowledge of Dutch is not a requirement.
