Council Decision of 20 May 1999 determining, in conformity with the relevant provisions of the Treaty establishing the EC and the Treaty on EU, the legal basis for each of the provisions or decisions which constitute the Schengen acquis

With the Treaty of Amsterdam the Schengen Agreement was integrated into the European Union. However, the Schengen Agreement covers both civil and criminal matters. Thus, parts of the Agreement fall within the EC Treaty whilst others fell within the EU Treaty, and are thus subject to a different regime. This Council Decision lists in Annex A the provisions of the Schengen Agreement that conform the Schengen acquis.
