Council Decision 2009/426/JHA of 16 December 2008 on the strengthening of Eurojust and amending Decision 2002/187/JHA setting up Eurojust with a view to reinforcing the fight against serious crime (consolidated version)

The Council Decision 2002/187/JHA of 28 February 2002 setting up Eurojust with a view to reinforcing the fight against serious crime established Eurojust as a “body of the Union” with legal personality.

The Eurojust Council Decision of February 2002 was subsequently amended in 2003 (Council Decision 2003/659/JHA of 18 June 2003, amending Decision 2002/187/JHA) and 2008 (Council Decision 2009/426/JHA of 16 December 2008 on the strengthening of Eurojust and amending Decision 2002/187/JHA).

The consolidated version of the Eurojust Council Decision here attached strengthens Eurojust’s operational capabilities and enhances its relationship with third parties. It entered into force on 4 June 2009.

The Eurojust Regulation currently under negotiation will replace all previous Decisions.
