Data Protection in Criminal Proceedings
The main goal of the DPiCP Project was to provide awareness of the main principles and rights on data protection applicable in investigations and further steps of criminal proceedings. To this purpose, activities of the Project included the organisation of training courses for law enforcement and judicial authorities, and the drafting and publication of a handbook on this matter. A specialised group composed of academics, judges and prosecutors, experts from the Ministries of Interior and Justice, and from the Data Protection Agencies of some EU Member States (Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands), as well as from some European bodies (Eurojust, Europol, European Data Protection Supervisor) was established. Its main role was the organisation and conduct of the training courses, and the drafting and publication of the handbook.
