Regulation (EU) No 1077/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2011 establishing a European Agency for the operational management of large-scale IT systems in the area of freedom, security and justice (eu-LISA), as amended in2013

This Regulation establishes the European Agency for the operational management of large-scale IT systems in the area of freedom, security and justice, known as "eu-LISA".

Located in Tallinn, although some of the systems are operated from the technical site in Strasbourg and the backup site is located in Sankt Johann im Pongau (Austria), eu-LISA is currently responsible for the operational management at central level of the second generation Schengen Information System (SIS II), the Visa Information System (VIS) and Eurodac.

The Regulation has been amended in 2015 by Regulation (EU) 603/2013 on the establishment of Eurodac and a Proposal to repeal it has been tabled by the Commission in 2017.
